Kereru count
We're taking part in Forest & Birds - The Great Kererū Count - and we think you should too! It's on until the 5th of October and every piece of information is worthwhile for their research, even if you didn't spot one. See all the details here www.kererucount.org.nz
“Kererū – the native New Zealand pigeon, which is known as the kūkupa in Northland is the only bird that can swallow large berries like tawa, pūriri, miro and karaka, so it plays a key role in regenerating our broadleaf forests,” says event organiser and Kiwi Conservation Club Manager, Tiff Stewart. We think it might be responsible for some rather large presents left last week on one of our staffs cars!!
Last year 2036 kererū were seen, with the top regions for sightings Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin. Let's get looking! (Until Oct 5th!)

Our calendar art

Our immensely talented 2015 calendar artist, Holly Roach, is holding an exhibition of the 12 incredible pieces of art (the ones our calendar is so lucky to feature) she's been tirelessly working on over the last year. It's in Birkenhead starting Monday.

Puriri wrap

Our Taaniko wrap was inspired by the diamonds and chevron patterns of Maori taaniko weaving. Taaniko was a unique weaving skill Maori used to decorate cloaks and pui pui bodices.
The wrap has been knitted here in New Zealand using a lovely soft blend of fine Merino wool and Possum fibre. Just about the perfect thing for this time of year!
